Perfect size for NYC program – 2.6 gal for countertop bins I live in NYC and am part of the Organics Collection program. I received an outdoor brown bin and a smaller countertop bin. In the colder months, we just use brown paper bags we save from shopping or fold newspapers to loosely contain the food scraps and absorb the moisture. This method worked fine because there were no bugs and cold weather kept the bin from smelling. Now that it’s getting warmer and there are more bugs around, we decided to buy the compostable bags.I was wavering…

A lifesaver if you have a food waste container These bags have saved the life of my 13-year-old and more importantly, saved his father from endless bellyaching and complaining. He (the 13-year-old) is tasked with taking out the food waste container in our household and it was a most unpleasant ordeal for him before we started ordering these bags. Prior to this we were using paper bags and food would leak through the bag and make a mess in the container which meant that it had to be cleaned out regularly so that it didn’t start to smell…

They’re better than the others I’ve tried. I’ve tried BioBags and Glad Compostables. Both of those brands wept a huge amount of moisture and lost their integrity about halfway through the week.These Unnis, however, can take a week’s worth of coffee ground, chicken bones, fruit scraps, etc. and weep hardly at all. And they hold their integrity.
