No grip. I bought this for my 3 boys. They love the mat and all the fun things on it and all the cars that came with it, however, we have hardwood floors and there is no backing to the mat making it very difficult for them to play on it. If you have hardwood, you might look into buying a rug grip for the backside.
Any boy or girl should have a great time with this mat I like it because it is large enough to have everything stand out in the town. The streets are big enough that the kids can push their cars/trucks through the town and not lose sight of what they are doing or where they are going. It’s great!
really good deal I got this large mat to use for a 5yo boy’s birthday party. It was the basic play area. I added a hill and bridges off the mat by using pieces from a toy train set and connecting the roads running off the mat to the structures with blue masking tape (didn’t have gray duct tape). Re-enforced the structures with clear packaging tape to the tile floor. Up to 5 active children played on the mat vigorously for 30 minutes and came back for another 20 minutes before the party was over–big hit…
