Freedom Swedish AFB is an injection-molded polyethylene splint that provides static dorsiflexion assistance and lateral stability for the entire foot-ankle area. Injection molding allows for thicker polyethylene on the vertical aspect for rigidity and a thinner footplate that may be trimmed with a pair of ordinary scissors. A heat gun may be used to further form the splint If desired. The low arch and open heel give this splint a streamlined profile that fits easily into any shoe. Padded hook-and-loop strap secures the afro around the calf. Available in left or right, Men’s and Women’s styles. Trim to fit with scissors. Sizing: Men’s fits up to Men’s size 12. Women’s fits up to Women’s size 9-1/2.
Good idea. Bad implementation. I have a problem with drop foot. I have a specially constructed orthopedic device for my leg that does a good job but is rather ridged. I purchased the Freedom unit because it seemed to allow some flex at the ankle. I was very disappointed with this unit. It is far too small at the calf. I am not a particularly big guy yet the span at the calf of this device is only 3 1/4 inches, just about right for my forearm! Also the instep is far too small and pinches painfully. It is unrealistic to think…
I ordered two one black and one white. The … I ordered two one black and one white. The white one was a couple of dollars more. It took longer to get to me. I had to use kitchen shears to cut them down. Scissors would not work. I cut one about 1/8 of an inch to short. I sanded down the front so that it was a taper. It is tough material. I used a power sander. They seem to be helping with my foot.
Works fine, but be careful about fit Works as designed, easily trimmed with heavy shears. Heat gun needed to adjust calf. However, the shank is about 1 1/2 in. Too short for my leg (I am 5â9â). This causes the strap to slide down the calf
