Each Bag contains 50 – 300cc oxygen absorbers. When used with proper packaging and sealing, the oxygen in the packaging is greatly reduced. Absorbers bring the oxygen level down reliably to. 01% or less. These Absorbers are perfect when combined with one gallon (10″x14″) Mylar Bags or a #10 can. Benefits of using Oxygen Absorbers in a household storage program:. Extends shelf life. Prevents growth of aerobic pathogens and spoilage organisms, including molds. Eliminates the need for additives such as BHA, BHT, sulfur dioxide, sorbates, benzoates,tc. Use with gas flushing/vacuum packaging to absorb virtually all oxygen and absorb any oxygen that may permeate the package. Significantly improves keeping qualities of polyunsaturated fats and oils. Helps retain fresh-roasted flavor of coffee and nuts. Prevents oxidation of spice oleoresins present in spices themselves and in seasoned foods. Prevents oxidation of vitamins A, C and E. Extends life of pharmaceuticals. Inhibits mold in natural cheeses and other fermented dairy products. Delays non-enzymatic browning of fruits and some vegetables. Inhibits oxidation and condensation of red pigment of most berries and sauces.
SIMPLE TESTS: THEY DO WORK BACKGROUND:I purchased a bunch of these for food storage. I was already planning on using gas displacement with argon, but thought that adding these would be good for long term. I saw some negative reviews that made me uneasy. I also saw some postings saying that these are supposed to get hot when absorbing oxygen, but didnât for them. I decided to do some experimenting to see if they do work.THE EXPERIMENTS:Heat Reaction-I took an entire pack of 20 and opened…
Stale, Old Absorbers, There should be a lower rating for this product. Not being familiar with this type of absorber, and because of the way it was package, I assumed it was a good product. After about sealing up half of my food, the thought that the Absorbers were hard, was really getting to me. So I took a handful, opened them and placed them in cloth bags to see how they would react. A normal absorber would get warm, if not hot when hit with a lot of air. These absorbers did not even get past room temperature. Therefore, there is no chemical reaction…
Tested them and found them to actually work. I wanted to address the freshness tab issue that a lot of people are talking about. When I ordered these I used them in my mason jars storing rice. I fill it with rice, then add the oxygen absorber and tightly cap the top. Later that day I could hear the mason jars, one by one, making a “pop!” sound. This was the sound of the lid being vacuum-sucked back to the inside of the jar.For me, this is proof that these oxygen absorbers are fresh and that they’re working in case…
