Product Description

The Graduated Sets of 3 sizes are ideal for those trying Oval-8 Finger Splints for the first time. Graduated Sets give you a good chance of finding the right fit for your finger condition now and you have extra sizes if swelling or temperature changes affect your finger. Use Oval-8 Finger Splints to treat Arthritis, Mallet Finger, Swan Neck and Boutonniere Injuries, Trigger Finger or Thumb, Hyper-flexible and Crooked Fingers. SIZING: Choosing the correct Oval-8 size can be affected by swelling, temperature and by how precisely the measurement is made. To choose a size likely to fit your finger, wrap a tailor’s measuring tape around the finger joint you are treating. Pull lightly so the tape conforms smoothly around your finger. Use the sizing chart to find the size range closest to your measurement. You can also measure using a jeweler’s ring sizer placed around the joint you are treating or with the Oval-8 Sizing Guide. Oval-8 sizes are precisely calibrated. The difference in circumference from one size to the next is only 1/16-inch to 1/8-inch and can be affected by minor swelling or by how the splint is worn. The sizing method described may not be 100 percent accurate for all fingers. Oval-8 Finger Splints may need to be adjusted by a healthcare provider trained in fitting splints for the most successful treatment. NOTE: Oval-8 Finger Splints are not recommended for children under the age of 4 as they may cause choking if swallowed. Do not use an Oval-8 over an open sore or wound. Wait until any significant swelling has subsided before wearing an Oval-8 Finger Splint. It is recommended that you discuss use of this splint with your health care provider.

The Oval-8 is better than the expesive custom splint I had I had a boutoniere deformity injury to my pinky finger. I went to a hand orthopod who first tried to fit me with an Oval-8. She did not have the correct size. So her Occupational Therapist made a custom splint from a plastic sheet that conforms to a shape when heated. The cost of that splint was approximately $150. It was never very comfortable and I don’t think it quite fit properly. I need to have the splint on for at least 6 weeks. It was not going to be a fun 6 weeks.

Worth the price! I have a trigger finger on my left middle finger. I didn’t want a bulky splint so when I saw these, I decided to give them a try. The sizing can be tricky from a lot of the reviews I read so I decided on a graduated set of 3. The price is very reasonable for 3 splints. I know that I wear a 61/2 ring on that middle finger and the size 7 splint fits perfectly. The 6 barely went on the 8 is a bit big, but if I have swelling, I think that will work too. Here’s the other thing – there is a 1/2 size…

A less obtrusive option I am splinting a mallet finger injury. Yes, these are 3 expensive pieces of plastic, but the application is worth it. Very nice to have multiple sizes. Light weight, doesn’t get in the way- I can still type two handed. They are well finished. No sharp edges or mold seams. The stax style splint offers more protection while I’m working. However, it doesn’t breath well and obviously limits the use of that hand- especially at a keyboard. Having both styles is going to be the best solution…
