Not effective for Livestock Guardian Dogs I loved this gate so much that I stained it to match our front decks and installed it to keep our free-range sheep and Livestock Guardian Dogs out. It worked like a dream, much better than the âHumanâs Only / No Animal Accessâ sign that they habitually ignored. With this gate in place we could finally hang laundry out to dry on the front decks and have our morning coffee in peace. It was so enjoyable that we built a breakfast bar on the lower deck as well as a matching an outdoor dining table…
Like it but dog ate it : ( Gate works great as advertised, sadly my german shepherd realized he could eat his way through it after about 4 months. No complaints for actual product, easy instal and use (tighten the top eye bolt a bit more if leans when open). Since no bottom bar like the standard walk through gates you can raise it up a bit for added height and folds out of the way when not in use. Made well, I just wish they made a steel version for those willing to chew their way out.
Easily broken with normal use Two stars because the return and replacement were easy. The gate, itself? It’s made out of pine or fir, not strong enough for this application. We use ours to confine two puppies. The pups didn’t break it. It broke when I swung it open normally. When swinging open, nearly the entire weight of the gate is supported by a single joint. That’s where it broke. Also, the telescoping plastic top does not collapse much, holding the gate open. This puts a large amount of leverage on that single joint…
