Good first microscope I am doing research, so buy this as the first microscope for my 6 year old son. Itâs a good kit for the beginner, but a little bit early to introduce it to my son. Eight-years old will be better. My son loves it and need some help to work on it. The price is good for the whole set.

You get what you pay for Design is really nice for what’s basically a toy (you get a rotating objective lens turret, Z-adjustable stage, top and bottom illumination) but the combination of cheap optics (lots of astigmatism/spherical aberrations) and poorly-made coarse focus controls (lots of play, backlash, and wobble in the adjustment) make it almost impossible to focus on anything, especially at higher mags. Perfect gift for kids! This microscope is simple and cute. There is a sample in the box while you still can collect 7-8more specimens by your own. I think itâs really helpful for kids/starter to discover the micro-words. One more thing, batteries needed!!
