The Coolest Toy Under The Tree This set blew my mind with all its pieces but it has really turned into a fine project for me to do with my nine year old nephew. Creative and inspires creativity It’s a fun set, perhaps targeted to future engineers but accessible to kids in general. I think it really fits a niche here where LEGO doesn’t do well – which is to say, a bit more flexibility in design and such without it coming across as blocky or modular.
Complicated This says for ages 9+ and it means it. I got this for my 7 year old grandson as he is quite an expert Lego builder. He and his father just completed an R2D2 kit and had a great time. So like all good grandma’s, I thought well he’s exceptional and can handle it. I was wrong. It was frustrating for him and we have put it away for a couple of years.
