Let your children explore endless building possibilities with K’NEX Education Intro to Simple Machines Gears Set!
This building set from K’NEX Education comes with 198 pieces. Kids can build 7 fully functioning replicas of real-world machines. This activity will keep your children occupied for hours!
Help your kids develop a better understanding of STEAM(science, technology, engineering, arts, and math subjects) with this toy. As they click the parts together, they’ll strengthen their hand-eye coordination, fine motor and problem-solving skills, and spatial awareness.
Study after study reveals that kids have more success learning STEAM subjects by partaking in activities related to the real world than by reading about abstract concepts in textbooks. K’NEX Education sets allow students to build replicas of real-world machines and contraptions. Through the lesson plans and experiments, students gain a concrete understanding of the principles that make their creations work.
Challenging and awesome! An amazing and challenging engineering toy! My five-year-old and her dad built the crank fan, which uses gears, in just a couple of hours. The pieces are easy to snap together, and the instructions don’t dumb anything down — you really have to work your spatial reasoning skills and examine the diagrams to assemble the machines in stages. Of course, we are that homeschooling family that throws away the Lego set instructions… so if you want explicit and simple written (as opposed to visual)…
Gray connectors warped This was great until all the gray pieces’ middle sections warped apart enough to not hold other pieces anymore, so basically nothing in the booklet can be constructed anymore. And we have only done K’Nex projects every other week or so — it’s not like we’ve been using them strenuously or anything. My kids and I are pretty disappointed that most of the play value is gone due to those gray connectors.
Fun and educational This kit has a fun variety of projects, all with satisfyingly realistic results. And for once an “educational” toy actually had clear educational value, prompting the kids to make a change in the project and then observe the difference and draw a conclusion. (I really should get out the CD-ROM that came with this and see what additional gems it has!)
