How Long Does It Take to Get Into Ketosis?
You cannot simply jump into ketosis in a 24-hour timespan. Your body has been burning sugar for fuel your entire life. It will need time to adapt to burning ketones for fuel.
This transition could take anywhere from 48 hours to one week. The length in time will vary depending upon your activity level, lifestyle, body type and carbohydrate intake. There are several ways you can speed up this process, like intermittent fasting, drastically decreasing your carb intake and supplementation.
Remember: Once you get into ketosis, there is no guarantee you will remain in ketosis. If you eat a carb-laden meal, practice carb cycling, or increase your carb intake for athletic performance, your body may start burning glucose. To get back into a fat-burning state, follow the same methods you did to get into ketosis initially.
How To Test Your Ketone?
Using our Ketone meter for breath testing, it is a type of meter specifically calibrated for measuring the level of ketosis for those on a ketogenic diet
1.Hold the power button for 3 seconds until the device turns on
2.Wait 20 seconds countdown for device warming-up
3.Blow with the mouthpiece for 6 seconds, the testing result will be displayed on the screen:
Readings of 0.0 signify the person is still not in ketosis state
Readings of 0.1-0.5 signify the person is in a light state of ketosis (the process of fats being used by the body as the main source of energy began )
Readings of 0.5-3.0 signify the person is in full state of ketosis, which is the optimal ketone zone (the process of fats being used by the body as the main source of energy)
Readings over 3.0 signify the person is in starvation ketosis
Readings over 5.0 signify the person is in too much ketosis and need medical care
Readings over 7.0 signify the person is in ketoacidosis
This little device makes me happy! I have been doing ketosis for about three months. I am tracking my keto, but I want to know if I am really doing well. I started using blood test strips in the first few weeks, and for the convenience, I bought this breath this breath ketone meter, it seems to be an affordable option.. I check the ketone twice a day, which is breeze. This little device makes me happy!
Unreliable and expensive I’ve tried this meter for several weeks and have found it to be inconsistent in readings, generally unreliable. Also, it’s expensive to use. The unit is almost $50 and comes with only 5 breath mouthpieces. Unfortunately, each mouthpiece is only good for a few readings and needs to be discarded, so 5 don’t last very long and replacements are not available online. I contacted the seller who very graciously sent a replacement meter but it was equally unreliable. If the meter was around $20 maybe…
Easy to use, very simple to get ketone readings This device is very easy to use and very important to me for measuring whether I’m in ketosis.
