Body Position and Adjusting the Device While sitting (back should be supported): Heel should be placed on the heel rest strap with the bottom of the foot against the foot support bar (shorter extension). Proximal strap – this is the adjustable strap that should be placed just above the knee joint with the soft, removable Velcro against the leg and the IdealKnee logo facing up. Arm/grip (Long handle) – extend arms and grip handle as illustrated. Arms should extend a comfortable distance to allow for an efficient pull inward and downward. The function is less effective if the grip is too close to the body and limits use. Adjustment – The IdealKnee has five adjustment settings. Users should determine the most comfortable position but the guideline below is generally appropriate. Height < 5' 5'-5'4" 5'4"-5'8" 5'8"-6'2" 6'2" Hole # One Two Three Four Five Use Remain sitting, preferably on a comfortable, level surface. 1. Pull downward and inward on handle to elevate heel off table. Hold for 5-10 seconds. Relax for five-10 seconds. 2. Next squeeze/contract quadriceps attempting to push knee flat to table. Hold for 5 seconds – Repeat 10 times. 3. Repeat steps One and Two 3-5 times per day. Notes: The heel should be able to come off the table when the knee can achieve full extension. When possible test the unaffected knee for an indication of full knee extension.
