Poems that really speak to toddlers (and I like them too!) The best poetry anthology for a three year old out there. I have a bunch of poetry collections but this is my favorite to read. All the poems are just the right length for a toddler and about stuff that would interest them. Lovely language. I’m proud my three year old goes around saying them to himself. He says the words make his body happy through his ears. Yay for poetry!
Execllent to introduce kids to poems For early readers and as an introduction to poetry, this book is your best choice! My daughter LOVED it. Since she first read it as a 4 year-old, finding how easy it is to read and even memorize some of them, she fell in love with poetry. Poems are funny and kids can relate to the experiences they talk about. Many have repetition or word games that encourage them to be more aware of their speech and the way the pronounce words. Delightful. Exactly what I hoped for–a book to inspire a love of poetry in my preschoolers. Bought it for my girls when they were four.They *love* it. They have memorized several of the poems on their own and sometimes recite them spontaneously! To me, this is evidence that Jane Yolen has done a good job of collecting poems that resonate with little ones and inspire them to appreciate the magic of words. And I really enjoy reading it to them!
