Help keep your home and family safe with this First Alert SA304CN3 Battery Powered Smoke Alarm. It features an escape light to help guide you to safety in the event of an emergency, an ionization sensor for smoke detection, and a loud 85-decibel alarm. It also includes a convenient single test/silence button for fast muting in the event of nuisance alarms from cooking smoke or shower steam. The battery-powered alarm doesn’t require wiring to install and continues to monitor your home even if there’s a power failure. The alarm has an easy-access side battery drawer, so there’s no need to remove the alarm from the ceiling to change the battery.Working smoke alarms cut the risk of dying in a home fire by 50%, and that’s important because a home fire starts every 83 seconds! The faster you know about a fire, the faster you can start moving your family outside. The First Alert smoke alarm with escape light not only alerts you to smoke and fire with a loud 85-decibel alarm, but also illuminates your path to safety. It uses ionization smoke sensing technology with a new contemporary enhanced smoke gathering design. It also features a low battery alert to remind you when to change the battery and has a missing battery guard to ensure that a battery is placed inside the alarm. The side battery drawer slides open for easy battery replacement. A blinking power indicator on the unit confirms that it is receiving power. The silence/test button allows you to both silence a non-threatening alarm and to test the unit’s functionality. The alarm contains an optional pin to lock the battery and unit in place for tamper resistance. It can be mounted on either the ceiling or the wall and can be used in mobile homes and RVs. It includes one 9-volt battery and has a 10-year limited warranty. Replaces the old SA150 model. UL listed for safety. Not permitted for sale in Oregon.–Bree Norlander

To test the light It is important to test this unit every week to make sure it is working properly. Using the Test/Silence button is the recommended way to test this Smoke Alarm. Press and hold the Test/Silence button on the cover of the unit until the alarm sounds and the Escape Light turns on (the unit may continue to alarm for a few seconds after you release the button). If it does not alarm, make sure the unit is receiving power and test it again. If it still does not alarm, replace it immediately. During testing you will hear a loud, repeating horn pattern: 3 beeps, pause, 3 beeps, pause. The Escape Light will turn on. LED flashes once every second
ARRIVED BROKEN Arrived and does not work. Sounds like something is loose rattling around inside. Pressed the Return button and message popped up that this item cannot be returned. I didn’t see anything posted anywhere telling customers this fact BEFORE purchase.
Do not buy I ordered 5 of these, one for each of the rooms in my home. My mother in law lives with us because she cannot take care of herself. She put fish in the microwave for 30 minutes when we were asleep. The entire house was filled with smoke and only 1 alarm went off. Super disappointing because we purchased these to save our lives.
50% Failure Rate! I purchased a four-pack of these alarms. Two of them were defective, a 50% failure rate. The TEST/MUTE button did not work on the two failed units. The test button is actually a flexible flap on the plastic cover. Attached to the underside of the flap is a plastic post about 3/4″ long which is supposed to contact a push button switch on the product’s printed circuit board when the test button is pressed. But on the failed units, the post missed the switch completely. Product would probably…
