Ultimately, what matters most to both children is that their holidays are celebrated in the presence of loved ones. One in three U.S. couples are in religiously mixed marriages and half of all Jews marry outside their faith, according to recent surveys. Eight Candles and a Tree is a lively and colorful picture book that fills a content void for young children.
For Interfaith Families — And All Families What a sweet book! Perfect for children of Jewish and Christian parents (or any other religion). Helps explain the rituals of both faiths without getting into theological differences, but also without getting stuck on them. For children 2-10 years old it is perfect. Parents and grandparents will enjoy reading it also.I love the conclusion that the wonder of any holiday is that we celebrate it together.
Excellent Book Beautiful book! Gave as a gift to my nephew and I think he really liked it.
Great for Kids Who Celebrate both Chanukah and Christmas My granddaughters (7 and 5) really enjoyed this book. Gave it only 4 stars because it would be good to have it include a version where Daddy is Jewish and Mommy is Christian (as in their family), but close enough to show kids in a mixed family that they have lots of company!
