There are 5x more images to view and learn about and 20 total prepared slides. Little ones choose from Fact Mode to learn about the items on a slide or Quiz Mode to test their scientific skills. Really a microscope toy â but great for 3-5 yr-olds. Let’s get one thing clear. This is a toy, or pretend, microscope. The ‘prepared’ slides are photos of stuff from real microscopes. It’s not for looking at stuff your kid has found in the garden or wherever. However, that said and understood, this is a cool plaything that’s enjoyed by both our three and five year olds. You can select audio facts, and everybody likes facts about spiders and blood and ants, or you can select an audio quiz to automatically play for each slide. Works like a charm…
Fun first microscope for younger children My three children have really enjoyed this microscope. My three and five year old have played with it over and over until they know a lot of the facts. My three year old has tried putting other items on it- while it does magnify them a bit, it is not much more than using a magnifying glass. My eight year old enjoyed it for a few minutes- long enough to go through all the slides- then lost interest in it. I think it is best for younger children.
