Product Description

The Dr. Brown’s Specialty Feeding System is a unique bottle/nipple/valve system designed specifically to assist in the management and treatment of complicated oral feeding issues. This bottle system will be beneficial for infants and bottle-fed children identified with severe to profound difficulty in efficiently expressing a fluid bolus during sucking. Infants with the following conditions – cleft lip/palate, oro-neuromotor dysfunctions, congenital heart disease, common or rare syndromic sequences and/or craniofacial anomalies will demonstrate strong outcomes while using the Dr. Brown’s Specialty Feeding System. The unidirectional flow valve known as the “Infant-Paced Feeding Valve” is inserted into the silicone nipple at the nipple base and placed into the collar. Once full assembly of the Dr. Brown’s Specialty Feeding System is complete this system allows the infant to use their own tongue and jaw movements during sucking to adequately express and deliver a fluid bolus into their intra-oral space for safe and efficient swallowing. The feeding becomes “infant-directed” and allows the infant to feed safely, efficiently and successfully. The Dr. Brown’s Natural Flow bottle is fully vented to create a positive-pressure flow for vacuum-free feeding. As baby feeds, fluid enters the infant’s mouth and air is channeled back from the infant through the nipple and the vent system bypassing the breast milk or formula during feeding. This system prevents the negative effects of a vacuum, allowing babies to feed more comfortably and eliminating discomfort from ingesting air, thereby reducing the symptoms of colic, spit-up, burping and gas. Includes 2-8oz bottles, valve, 2-Level 1 silicone nipples, 2-Level 2 silicone nipples, cleaning brush. (Fast flow nipples are for more developed feeders). (Nipple size may vary).

SpringPeeper says:

Not just for cleft palate, helped my preemie with suction/bottle flow issues My baby was born extremely prematurely at 26 weeks gestation. She does not have a cleft palate, but I suspect that she has a higher than normal palate and some issues with maintaining a seal around bottle nipples. My baby started out with the Similac slow-flow nipples in the NICU, then we switched to Dr. Brown’s bottles with the preemie level nipples. She did fine with these, but it would take her up to an hour to finish a bottle, and once she needed to eat larger volumes of milk, she was…

Great substitute for manual feeder… My daughter needed special bottles because of her soft palette. The original bottles sent home from the hospital required manual “pumping” action from the person feeding to replicate the natural sucking motion. The problem with this is trusting daycare to get it right every time. These bottles are perfect because my daughter is able to obtain her milk without any additional manual action from the person feeding other than to hold the bottle just like any other normal bottle. The only…

Rachel Burke says:

ml/oz measurements on bottle mis-marked!! As much as I like and use the Dr Browns natural flow with my premature infant, I can’t give a full endorsement. Now this bottle was the top choice of the good nurses at our NICU. Good enough for them, good enough for me… But when I ordered the 4oz version- HUGE problem. The ml/oz marked on the side of the bottle were 10ml off! I tested this to be sure and yes, totally off. This is a big deal to parents that need to be mindful of how much their baby is eating as the case with a preemie. So…
