Good do it yourself learning for a 7 yr old. Small but great if you don’t have space for a big permanent one. My daughter is 7 and really enjoyed painting and assembling this together. The plastic sphere halfs need to be snapped together which I found was hardest for her. If we had to do it again I would make sure I broke each one out of their holders one planet at a time. The reason is that some planets are the same size and the labeling is just one really small character printed on the inside of the shape. So, I just had to find, read…
Nice teaching tool for a kids’ science class I painted and assembled this model to use as a teaching tool in my kids’ science class. I like that it’s a cheap orrery that clearly illustrates the solar system. I wish it was a little bigger (the photo includes a dime for scale), I wish that the directions had been clearer about which metal peg was which – you have to be sure to mount each planet on the right metal peg, so it still rotates, and I would recommend that you glue the pegs into the arms so that the planets don’t all fall off when…
so I bought him this as a surprise so we could build it together and he’d have something cool in his room My son is obsessed with space and wants to be an astronaut, so I bought him this as a surprise so we could build it together and he’d have something cool in his room. Sadly it was pretty disappointing from the get go. Firstly, it was WAY smaller than I thought it would be, though it’s my own fault for not reading the measurements before buying. Secondly, it is not all that sturdy. The set is very rickety and the planets don’t stay together well. Maybe after painting they stay closed, but we…
