Nice holiday book for kids My son enjoyed this book. Charming story and fun illustrations.
Very traditional gender roles: not for us I purchased this book along with several other books for our synagogue’s children’s library based on the good reviews and High Holy Days theme. Unfortunately, this book portrays men and women in very “traditional” gender roles, with the women as “housewives” and the men as shopkeepers. I understand that this is intended to be a historical fable but it’s not something I’d like to support or introduce as normal for my son.
Great story for the whole family. If you want to know how the challah became round this is a clever, fast read for the whole family to enjoy.
