Made from potato starch from non-GMO potatoes, blended with a certified, fully compostable polymer. They contain no plasticizers which migrate and cause mechanical properties of the bags to deteriorate and thereby shortening the shelf life. The potato starch is made from “starch potato” varieties, grown for starch only, not good for food. Starch potatoes require no irrigation, only natural rainfall. The bags are 100% certified compostable and should be composted in municipal or commercial compost facilities where available.
Unusable; they rip every time or start to biodegarde in the trash can I have been loyal to the If You Care brand for years because i couldn’t find any other brand of biodegradable / compostable garbage bags on the market that were this environmentally friendly. But I’ve been struggling for years with these. They rip instantly, even as you try to get them off the roll (I’m including my experience with the Lawn and Leaf bags). I often have to use 2 to 3 bags at once to get the strength I need for my garbage or simply because they rip and I have to put then in a new…
Too flimsy I have purchased many types of compostable kitchen garbage bags. The company is to be commended for attempted to create bags that will not harm the environment, but they have failed to create one that works in normal usage. This one is so thin that even 1/3 full with vegetable waste, it tore. I have used all 12 bags and only twodid not tear. Will not buy again.

These bags have handles and I can drape them over the edge of the bin and when it’s time to go to the big bin outside, I just grab the handles. The other bags leaked often. These don’t. Yes, these bags are light, thin, compostables. You do have to handle them with care when opening them. But they are far stronger than the others and don’t leak!
