Your thyroid is an endocrine gland found in your neck which produces the hormones Triiodothyronine (T3) and Thyroxine (T4).

The amount T3 and T4 produced by the thyroid gland is regulated by another hormone known as Thyroid Stimulating Hormone (TSH) which is produced in the pituitary gland in the brain.

An increase in TSH will result in a drop in T3 and T4 leading to hypothyroidism.
A decrease in TSH will lead to an increase in T3 and T4 which causes hyperthyroidism.

This test will determine how your thyroid is performing by looking at thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH), free thyroxine (T4) and free triiodothyronine (T3).
